1. Administration of local anesthesia at donor and recipient site:

• Trichophytic closure:

• Rapid harvest and early implantation:

In standard FUE technique the follicular grafts are pulled from underlying the scalp tissues with a punch like device. The pulled grafts include follicular graft and adequate surrounding tissues. The tissues on the either sides are cut to remove the excess tissue and the tissues below the follicle is left untouched. This follicular units after sometime is implanted at the recipient site after preparing the recipient site. The technique of pulling of follicles and more out of body time could damage the follicle and thus negatively influence the permanency of outcomes.

In rapid harvest and early implantation time the recipient site is prepared before the harvesting of grafts and then the immediate implantation is done keeping short out of body time. The transfer time reduces to half an hour.

FUT technique has an advantage over both of the above mentioned technique as after strip harvesting the individual graft is dissected and the grafts are not pulled which negates the graft damage.  Including the surrounding tissues are adequate which provides appropriate environment and support to the follicle increasing their survival despite higher out of body time. The graft survival rate outside the scalp when performed by FUT technique is approximately 8 – 9 hours which is very high.

• No root touch technique: When the follicles or roots are handled while implantation it could damage the grafts thus a newer technique is developed wherein the implantation is performed without touching the roots. This procedure is successfully performed using a device termed “keep implanters”.
