Delhi has always been a hub of all activities in the country. Medical facilities are no exception to it. Most of the prime medical institutes are present in Delhi which is why people from all parts of India come to Delhi for their treatment. Hair Transplant has become a very sought after service in the field of cosmetic surgery due to its impact on a person’s appearance as well as on their confidence. It has gained popularity all over the world and India, especially Delhi, has been no exception. The method sused for Hair Transplant in Delhi are:
FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation):
In this technique, a strip of tissues is removed from the donor area from which the follicles are extracted. First the donor area, usually at the back and at the sides of the head is trimmed and cleaned using an antiseptic solution to prevent any infection. The scalp of the patient is then injected with local anaesthesia to make the region numb. After removing the donor area it is sutured and closed. The development of Trichophytic Closure Technique makes the scar negligible to notice and the recovery much faster than before. The follicles are then extracted from the patch of skin removed by slicing off the skin in thin strips. This is known as Strip Harvesting. The grafts are then prepared for implantation using an implanter pen or needle. The needle is pricked into the skin in the desired angle and direction of hair growth.
This technique is useful in cases of large areas of balding and since this method can be repeated for up to two more times, it is advised when multiple sittings are needed. It also maintains a better density of the safe donor area for future transplants.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction):
In this technique of Hair Transplant in Delhi, each unit of the follicle is individually extracted from the scalp. First the hair is trimmed to about 1mm of length. The next step is to clean the donor area with an antiseptic solution and make it completely free of bacteria. The scalp of the patient is then injected with local anaesthesia to make the region numb to the needle pricks. The grafts are then collected using sterile needle tips. Smaller grafts are preferred since they give a more natural look. The grafts are collected in a group of 3-4 hair strands together known as Follicular Units from which the name Follicular Unit Extraction is also obtained. The hair grafts are collected and stored in a solution of cold saline. The grafts are then prepared for implantation. The needle is pricked into the skin in the desired angle and direction of hair growth. The skin of the transplanted part forms scabs in about 10 days and falls off.
FUT+FUE:
The reason for the development of this new concept is a realisation that both the methods individually are unable to give as good results as both of them together. He combined both the methods because FUT gives about 3500-4000 Follicular Units and FUE gives 2500-3000 Follicular Units, but when combined, these methods can together give about 6000 follicles and can hence be used for higher grades of balding and can also reduce the number of sittings that would be required. The density of hair at donor area is also better maintained by combining both the methods together hence reducing the chances of future balding or thinning of hair. It also helps in faster healing of the wounds at the donor area since the strip extracted for FUT will be thinner and the number of punches made for FUE will be lesser in number too. It is hence clear that combining both FUT and FUE is the future of hair transplant. Dr. Suneet Soni at Medispa India has taken a huge step towards progress by using this brilliant technique before anyone else.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP):
PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is a technique deviced for tissue repair and rejuvination. It is prepared by taking the patient’s own blood and isolating the platelets from it. The platelets are isolated by means of centrifugation at a certain RPM. The platelets are then activated to release chemicals that help in tissue repair. It is a newly developed treatment for hair loss conditions and is often used in combination along with hair transplant in India as well as globally. It encourages hair growth in a wide range of hair loss conditions such as androgenetic alopecia and can be combined with hair transplantation techniques or can be used as a solo treatment. PRP can increase terminal hair density (terminal hairs/cm2). However, it is not a treatment for hair loss but just for hair thinning and it is also not a permanent treatment and requires frequent repetitions of the sessions to maintain the desired output.
